DAY 0 : ARRIVE IN TANZANIA

After breakfast, your adventure begins as you are picked up from the lodge and driven to the entrance gate of Kilimanjaro National Park. While your guide completes the registration formalities, you’ll have the chance to watch the mountain crew prepare for the trek ahead. Soon after, your Kilimanjaro journey sets off into the lush rainforest, where towering ancient trees, giant ferns, lianas, lichens, and moss create a magical atmosphere. Keep your eyes on the treetops—you may be lucky enough to spot the striking black-and-white colobus monkeys leaping gracefully from branch to branch.

After 5 to 6 hours of trekking through this enchanting forest, you’ll arrive at Machame Camp, located just above the tree line. Nestled at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, this will be your first night on the mountain, where you’ll enjoy a well-deserved dinner and rest in your tents under the African sky.

DAY 1 : MACHAME ROUTE - MACHAME CAMP

After breakfast you will be picked up at the lodge and taken to the entrance gate of Kilimanjaro National Park. While your guide is busy with the registration forms, you can watch the mountain team prepare for the climb and once this is all done, your Kilimanjaro adventure will begin. In no time you will be deep within the magnificent mountain rainforest with ancient trees, primeval ferns, liana, lichen and moss that carpets the ground and drapes from the trees. You will hear and with a little luck, even spot the beautiful black and white colobus monkeys in the treetops. After 5 to 6 hours, you will reach today’s destination – the Machame Camp which is situated just above the tree line. Here, at the base of Mt Kilimanjaro, you will have your first dinner followed by an overnight stay in tents.

DAY 2 : MACHAME CAMP [ 3010M ]  - NEW SHIRA CAMP

After an early morning start, the trail becomes steeper as you ascend into the heath and moorland zone. The dense forest gives way to open landscapes, offering sweeping views of the surrounding mountain range. Today’s trek is shorter than the previous day, allowing for a more relaxed pace. By mid-afternoon, you will arrive at New Shira Camp, which sits on a beautiful plateau with breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro. As the sun begins to set, the rock face and glaciers of Kibo are bathed in golden light, creating an unforgettable scene to end the day.

DAY 3 ;NEW SHIRA CAMP - LOVA TOWER - BARRANCO CAMP

Today’s trek takes you approximately 800 meters higher, but you’ll camp at nearly the same elevation as the previous night—an important step that helps your body acclimatize. Over the next two days, you’ll reach heights above 4,500 meters. The journey begins with a steady ascent across the expansive Shira Plateau toward the iconic Lava Tower. As you climb, the vegetation thins, giving way to the stark beauty of the afro-alpine desert. The trail then descends into the stunning Barranco Valley, where you’ll encounter dramatic landscapes dotted with giant lobelias and towering Senecio plants. After 6 to 7 hours of trekking, you’ll arrive at Barranco Camp, often considered the most beautiful campsite on the mountain, with spectacular views that make the effort worthwhile.

DAY 4 :BARRANCO CAMP 3950M - KARANGA CAMP 4025M

The day begins with the famous Barranco Wall, often called the “Breakfast Wall” since you’ll tackle it right after your morning meal. This section is the steepest part of the Machame Route, but despite its appearance, it requires no technical climbing. In some areas, however, you’ll need to use your hands for extra grip as you pull yourself upward. Your guide will always be close by, ready to offer support whenever needed.

After navigating the narrow ledge at the Kissing Rock, the trail continues along a scenic mountain ridge before descending into the Karanga Valley. Here, you’ll cross the final water point of the trek before making the ascent to Karanga Camp. Once at camp, enjoy a well-earned meal and rest as you prepare for the important climb ahead.

DAY 5 :KARANGA CAMP 4025 -BARAFU BASE CAMP 4640M

Today’s hike takes about 3 to 5 hours at a steady, unhurried pace as you ascend toward Barafu Camp. The landscape becomes increasingly barren, with the dry, cracked ground of the afro-alpine desert crunching beneath your boots. As you approach the rocky camp, anticipation builds—your final push to the summit is now just hours away.

Perched high on the ridge, Barafu Camp offers dramatic views of Mawenzi Peak and the trail leading to Kilimanjaro’s summit. After an early dinner, you’ll make your final preparations before heading to bed. A wake-up call will come around 11:00 PM or midnight, signaling the start of your once-in-a-lifetime ascent to the Roof of Africa.

DAY 6 : BARAFU CAMP 4640M - SUMMIT 5895M - MWEKA CAMP 380M

After a warm cup of tea and a light snack, your summit attempt begins around midnight. With headlamps lighting the way, you’ll make a steady climb into the cold, star-filled night. After 5 to 7 hours of determined trekking, you’ll reach Stella Point (5,730 m) on Kilimanjaro’s crater rim. From here, it’s another 1 to 2 hours along the ridge to reach the ultimate goal—Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa.

As the sun rises above the horizon, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking 360° views over glaciers, crater plains, and the vast African landscape below. Standing on the “Roof of Africa” is a moment of triumph and wonder you’ll never forget.

The descent follows nearly the same route back down. By midday, you’ll return to Barafu Camp, where your team will be waiting with a hot meal and much-deserved rest before continuing down to lower altitudes.

DAY 7 : MWEKA CAMP 380M - MWEKA GATE

After a leisurely morning and a hearty breakfast, your private mountain crew will gather for a traditional farewell ceremony—a memorable moment of song and gratitude for your successful climb. From here, you’ll begin your final descent to Mweka Gate, a 2–3 hour trek through Kilimanjaro’s lush rainforest. Along the trail, keep an eye out for the delicate and rare Impatiens Kilimanjaro flower, found only on these slopes.

At Mweka Gate, your transfer driver will be waiting to take you back to your hotel. Once there, it’s time for a well-deserved long shower, a refreshing drink, and the chance to reflect on your incredible achievement while dreaming of your next adventure.
